This Mosaic Home Kit is geared toward beginners who want to learn about basic techniques, tools and materials involved in creating mosaic art from the comfort of their home. This informative class covers cutting, proper adhesives, substrates, design/layout and grouting. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of materials while exploring both traditional and contemporary techniques.

Class begins with a brief history of mosaics covering many types of contemporary and historical mosaic works, showcasing a broad range of materials and how they can be applied to your mosaics. Demonstration cover mosaic design approaches, a range of material uses, and the steps to design and create a mosaic artwork. Students are encouraged to experiment with color and texture to begin to discover the possibilities. No prior art or mosaic experience necessary!

Students in this course will create an 8” x 8” indoor mosaic.
